About the Multicultural AOD Program

  • Community-led stigma and harm reduction: Multicultural Peer Support Workers have co-designed culturally tailored engagement activities to reduce stigma and raise awareness about the harms of alcohol and other drugs in multicultural communities. We are specifically working with the Eritrean, Iranian, Vietnamese, Filipino, Karen and Punjabi-speaking communities.

  • Improving access to support: The Multicultural Connect Line (1300 079 020) offers warm referrals, support and early connection to appropriate AOD services, with interpreter support available.

  • Capacity building in AOD services: In partnership with Lives Lived Well, we are training AOD workers to support multicultural clients by trialling a co-delivery model with Multicultural Peer Support Workers to enhance client care and engagement.

All activities are designed to respect and align with each community’s language and culture.
