Culture in Mind

Culture in Mind provides community-based psycho-social support to improve social, emotional and mental wellbeing.

Our qualified Wellbeing Support Coordinators provide a range of psycho-social supports to help you to build on your strengths to improve your mental health, wellbeing, recovery, social inclusion and participation. The Program is funded by the Queensland Department of Health.

1. People from multicultural backgrounds living in the greater Brisbane region who are aged 18+

2. Experiencing severe and complex mental health issues requiring specialised mental health services

3. Ready and willing to work towards mental health recovery goals

1. We are guided by your voice, needs, unique wishes and goals of recovery

2. We are culturally responsive and are a mobile team that outreaches to the north and south side of Brisbane and works with individuals at three support levels: low, medium, and high

3. Our service is practical and strengths-based aimed at helping you reach goals and aspirations, and build resilience, while also focusing on meeting practical needs.

4. We offer a wraparound service where Wellbeing Support Coordinators and Multicultural Peer Support Workers work with you to support you to increase your ability to do everyday activities, to meet practical needs, goals and aspirations in recovery.

5. We work from within a culture-based framework and multicultural peer support workers to ensure we are respectful of your culture and build on your cultural strengths.

6.  We work within a human rights and social justice framework to ensure everyone has a right to health and mental health care and support. Our work is guided by the Queensland Human Rights Act 2019 which protects 23 human rights in law, including access to health services without discrimination.
