World Wellness Group was founded in 2011 by five health professionals.  Our story so far involves a board of directors, a team of incredibly dedicated health practitioners and our partners and supporters who support us to achieve our mission and implement our work.  We work by a set of guiding documents and values that inspire and inform our work.

World Wellness Group – Our story so far

WWG was founded by a small group of Brisbane health workers who have held various professional roles in the multicultural sector for the past 25 years. During this time we have been part of many excellent multicultural health initiatives which have led to frustration and disappointment when they were invariably defunded due to changes in policy and funding priorities. Despite often being able to provide positive evaluation results, multicultural health has struggled to be on any political agenda. For a range of complex reasons, including lack of credible data, unhealthy migrants and refugees, especially those with mental illness, do not have a political voice.

We have a big vision.  Our vision is to  build health equity.  This is a large and ambitious vision.

We believe that everyone has a right to accessible and appropriate health care regardless of who they are.

For many years we have watched the gap grow bigger for those who struggle to access basic health care due to language, culture, affordability and entitlement barriers,  let alone to quality health promotion and prevention programs.
